This product provides several methods of wiping data storage clean so that they cannot be recovered by anybody else if the drive/machine is stolen or is disposed of.
We all know that when we delete a file in the data storage, sections where the file is stored is simply marked as deleted. The data is not actually deleted. When new data is written to these sections, the old data goes away and does not interfere with the working of the computer. However should the machine or just the drive is stolen or disposed of, there remains a lot of data that has not be been wiped clean. Anyone with malafide intentions could read the data back and use it the way they please. Only if the data is wiped clean can the data be protected from misuse. Depending on how this wiping is done, it becomes increasingly hard to recover any of it.
This tool provides several methods form generally secure to military strength wiping (as specified in military standards). These tools provide options of wiping files and folders, disk drives and flash memory, and the unused disk space. The wiping methods include writing zeroes in one pass, pseudo random patterns are written in one pass, according to defense standards that write a special pattern in 3 passes and a special pattern in 7 passes as also a method known as Peter Guttman method in which a special number pattern is written in 35 passes. The trade off is security versus speed of cleaning. Peter Guttman method is the most secure but takes the most time to clean. The interface makes it easy to use the tool and it is really very useful if your data has a security angle, even at the minimal level.
